55 miles south from LA downtown and 70 miles north to San Diego, lies another hidden beauty in Victoria Beach, Laguna Beach city. Accompanied by a steep cliff on Victoria Beach, stands a rocket-like 60-foot tower, known to many locals as the “Pirate Tower” or “La Tour” in French. Location of La Tour or Pirate Tower. Or google map “2713 Victoria Dr., Laguna Beach, CA 92651“
This enigmatic seaside tower on California’s Victoria Beach looks like something out of a storybook, it would seem to live up to the mystique. However, in reality it was just a rich eccentric’s private staircase to beach.
Although NOT well-known to the world, it still attracts lots of locals to enjoy some leisure time here. To know more details and its history, “ref 1, ref 2” are good articles.
Next to the tower or stairways, there is a man-made lagoon; at high tide, it might be a perfect swimming pool.
In windy days, the waves, broken by these big rocks, can catch you from any directions, as shown in the following photos. It is quite fun, although it might NOT be safe, particularly to small kids.
